the existing home held a beautiful street presence but turned its back on the garden, with dark service rooms cut off from the light.
our work restores the original rooms and adds a quiet contemporary pavilion to the rear — a single calm move that draws the family's daily life toward the north and the garden beyond. materials are kept few and honest: lime-washed walls, timber joinery, and brass detailing left to patina over time.

the brief was for a generous family home that still felt intimate day to day, on a deep block framed by established trees.
we organised the house around a central courtyard, so every room borrows light and outlook from the garden while staying private from the street. a restrained palette of brick, spotted gum and concrete lets the landscape do the talking.

a full interior reworking of a tired apartment into a calm, light-filled home with bespoke joinery throughout.

behind a dated layout was a well-proportioned apartment waiting to be uncovered.
we stripped it back, simplified the plan, and let a single material language — pale oak, soft plaster, and honed stone — carry through every room. custom joinery does the heavy lifting, hiding storage and services so the spaces can stay quiet.

a garden studio and living addition that extends a 1960s home into its landscape with a light, demountable touch.

the owners wanted more room to live and work without losing the garden they'd spent decades building.
a slender pavilion settles into the slope, touching the ground lightly and framing long views back to the established planting. operable walls let the room open fully to the garden in summer and close down snugly in winter.

careful conservation of a federation cottage paired with a modern kitchen and living wing for a growing family.

a much-loved cottage needed to work for modern family life without losing what made it special.
we conserved the original front rooms and detailing, then added a warm, light-filled wing that reads as clearly new — a respectful conversation between old and new. reclaimed brick and timber tie the addition back to the original fabric.

a robust, weather-wise home that opens to the harbour, designed for salt air, sun, and easy coastal living.

perched above the harbour, the site offered spectacular views but a tough, exposed aspect.
the home is planned to capture the outlook and northern sun while sheltering its courtyards from the prevailing wind. durable, low-maintenance materials are chosen to weather gracefully in the coastal setting.
